Delaney Buskard, President

Delaney is a second-year MEM student in the Energy & Environment concentration from Manhasset, New York. She previously served as the Sustainable Duke Liaison for DSB and is looking forward to expanding DSB’s influence beyond the Nicholas School of the Environment. Her hobbies include exercising, being in the kitchen, and bothering her dogs and cat.

Danlei Zou, Vice President

Danlei is a second-year MEM in the Business & Environment concentration from San Francisco, California. She joined DSB to share her love for and knowledge of the environment through interactive events and productive discussions with the students in the Nicholas School and greater Duke community. Her favorite food is macaroni and (three) cheese and pickles – she is somewhat of a pickle connoisseur and can make nearly eight pickle varieties at home.

Chayan Jani, Treasurer

Chayan Jani is second year MEM in Business and Environment concentration, from India. She has  previous work experience in chemical and renewables sector and now moving towards corporate sustainability.  Chayan joined DSB to brainstorm ideas with like-minded people and promote the sustainability culture at Duke. You will normally find her drinking chai and talking about Bollywood movies (as Indian as it gets!). She also likes painting, reading, and dancing in her free time.  Her go-to comfort food is Rajma-Chawal.

Clara Fast, Secretary

Clara is a second-year Master of Environmental Management student in the Ecosystem Science & Conservation concentration. She is from the Netherlands, and loves to read, travel, play volleyball, and watch TV series! She looks forward to planning sustainable workshops and getting to know the new members!

Kaila Balch, Communications Representative

Kaila is a second-year MSc in Global Health student at the Duke Global Health Institute from Park City, Utah. Her interest in food security, sustainable agriculture, environmental justice, and the intersection of human and environmental health is what brought her to the DSB board. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and painting. Kaila is excited to be continuing with DSB as the Communication Representative to help foster a more environmentally conscious student body and campus!

Sara Diamond, Outreach Coordinator

Sara is a second-year MEM in the Ecosystem Science and Conservation concentration from Atlanta, Georgia. She joined DSB because she is interested in how we can work more with big Duke on incorporating sustainability and learning more about actions we can take as we head into sustainability careers. Her favorite food of all time is French fries and her favorite thing to make is homemade hummus with tahini.

Jessica Brooks, Beaufort Representative

Jessica Brooks is a second-year MF/ MEM in the Coastal Environmental Management concentration. Hailing from the cornfields of Iowa, Jessica’s passion for plastic pollution, environmental justice, and recycling led her to join DSB. As the Beaufort Representative, she looks forward to working alongside her Durham counterparts in cultivating empowering and impactful events on sustainability. Outside of Duke, Jessica loves traveling with her dog, swimming, hiking, and eating fried ice cream.

Li Jia Go, International Representative 

Li Jia is a first-year MEM student in the Ecosystem Science & Conservation concentration from Singapore. She is looking forward to fostering a culture of sustainability at Duke by improving student engagement and awareness of sustainability issues. Her favorite food is kaya toast – a typical Singaporean breakfast fare consisting of two slices of toast slathered with coconut jam and cold butter!

Lauren Kobayashi, Sustainable Duke Liasion

Lauren Kobayashi is a second-year MPP/MEM student in the environmental science and conservation concentration. She is originally from San Francisco, California, but came to Duke via Seattle, Washington. Lauren’s interest and prior experience in campus sustainability, specifically zero-waste brought her to DSB. In her free time Lauren enjoys climbing, reading, hiking, and playing with her foster kittens. Her favorite food is sushi.

Samriddha Ghosh, First-Year Representative

Hey! I am Samriddha Ghosh, first year MEM student in the Energy and Environment Concentration from India. My interests in clean energy, decarbonization, emissions reduction through sustainable practices conduced me to join DSB. Through multiple events, workshop and panels I wish to promote sustainability throughout campus, in collaboration with Sustainable Duke. Besides academics I often find myself traveling, cooking, dancing, swimming, and binge watching stand-up comedies. I enjoy Indian and Thai cuisine a lot, but my all time favourite dish would be Biriyani. A fun fact about me is that I am extremely fond of shoes and I have more than 20 pairs of them!
