STEM 1 and Summer Academy

arrival day was a success!

Today Duke Summer Sessions welcomed our first group of students for Accelerated Stem 1 and Summer Academy. As each student and family arrived the excitement of the day was building among the staff. Students entered with smiling faces in anticipation of the first activities of the day beginning with check in. Building on our summer session community, we celebrated fathers with a special “Happy Father’s Day” treat! After settling into rooms and meeting senior resident advisors and other staff members, students took advantage of time before dinner to get to know each other socially. Many students could be found playing Ping-Pong or throwing around a frisbee as icebreakers. After taking in the sites of campus students enjoyed dinner at the Brodhead Center. Following dinner students attended academic and residential orientations. Students were able to hear information and expectations concerning the academic programs offered during summer sessions from the summer session academic staff. In addition, students learned several aspects of how the summer session residential life will create an opportunity to experience college communities. What an exciting and busy first day!

We are here to make your experience at Duke Summer Session memorable! Lets experience the fun together!
