- Trinity Heights: Built by Duke, it is just next to east compus. There is are a mixture of new houses, old houses and some new townhouses.
- Trinity Park: An old charmin neighborhood. Big and small houses. See TrinityPark@yahoogroups.com
- Old West Durham. A lot of gradstudents and faculty live here. Very close to Duke and 9th street. See owdna@yahoogroups.com
- Watts-Hillandale. Just next to Old West Durham. Houses are bigger on average. See whhna-list-request@rtpnet.org
- Duke Park/Old North Durham. A little farther from Duke but a great neighborhood with nice parks. A lot of post docs and young faculty live here. dukepark@yahoogroups.com
- If you are looking for a place downtown you might also want to look at abcddurham@yahoogroups.com as there are a number of postings about downtown properties on it. There are also a number of condo projects under or recently completed: Mangum 506, Baldwin Lofts, Kress Building, Five points Lofts, The Eleanor, Bullingnton Warehouse
- Duke Forest is an older neighborhood tucked in the woods near Duke. A short bike ride to campus.
- Cleveland-Holloway is a neighborhood on the oposite side of downtown from Duke. The neighborhood is in transition and there are a number of relatively fixit-uppers.
- Hope-Valley is a neighborhood with a number of large houses and some smaller houses. The plots are bigger that in the neighborhoods closer to downtown.
- Walltown is a just next to Trinity Heights and near east campus. It has a number of smaller houses many of which are rentals.
