Sid was born and raised in India, did his undergraduate degree in industrial biotechnology at Anna University. While in undergrad, he interned at IISC, worked on developing a molecular detection kit for Canine Babesiosis and later on Lysosome level Calcium and Sodium ion sensing under Dr. Yamuna Krishnan at the University of Chicago. He did his final semester thesis on deciphering the role of FGF and EGF signalling at the Justus Liebig University, Germany under Dr. Martin Berghoff. He joined the Sherwood lab in 2022 and is now studying organelle mechanics in the C.elegans germline. Outside of lab, Sid is usually in a dark room doing digital art, working on animations or watching mediocre movies.
