Report to Police

Any individual who has experienced sexual misconduct has the right to choose whether to file a report with local authorities. If you wish to report to the police, a criminal investigation may be initiated.  University resources are always available to individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct and may be useful in processing police involvement in a case of sexual misconduct.

Students have the option of reporting Sexual Misconduct to Duke Police. A Duke Police Investigator can help a student understand the difference between the criminal and administrative processes, fully investigate and assist in prosecution of criminal incidents that occur on campus, or connect students to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for incidents that occur off campus. No matter where an incident occurs, Duke Police can provide support and help connect students to resources both on and off campus.

As a student you have two police departments you can report to in any case of sexual misconduct.
