Hello! I’m Kaushik Valiveti, and I am a first-year student at Duke studying Neuroscience and
Global Health. I’m originally from Georgia, and I love playing tennis and basketball, going to
the gym, hanging out with friends, and listening to music (house/rap primarily). In terms of my
health-related background, I’ve always been interested in understanding the administrative and
social factors of healthcare, including how hospitals are run, what financial and logistical barriers
prevent people from receiving the healthcare they need, and how policy can shape health
outcomes over the lifespan, both on an individual and macro level. Because North Carolina is the
second most rural state in the nation, there exist numerous barriers to healthcare and support
resources, and I would like to help bridge these inequities. I look forward to providing
compassionate, human-centered community support to the Durham area, simultaneously
establishing longitudinal relationships with North Carolinians who have diverse stories and
backgrounds.
