My name is Talmage Sanders. I am in the Duke Physician Assistant Program and am in my 2nd year doing clinical rotations. I wanted to be a Help Desk Volunteer as I feel there is a great need to address disparities contributing to the health of members in the community. Through doing this, we can create a world that is better for all of us! As a volunteer, I hope to deepen my empathy and understanding of the various obstacles my eventual patients face in creating a healthy life for themselves. I also hope to make the lives of those in my community easier, happier, and healthier. Finally, I hope to gain a better understanding of resources I can provide to those in need. Outside of Help Desk and the PA program, I enjoy getting outside through hiking and rock climbing, playing board games, and being with friends and family. One goal for myself is to work in a primary care setting at a federally qualified health center. I would also love to get involved in a local political or advocacy role.
