My name is Olaya Garcia-Grau, and I am a Sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health with a minor in Chemistry. I wanted to become a Help Desk volunteer to help combat the social determinants of health, and work practice preventative health and get out of the Duke bubble to make a real impact in my community. Particularly, as a native Spanish speaker, I want to interact with the hispanic community in Durham and work with them to not only continue improving my interpersonal and professional Spanish skills, but to advance the community and provide empathetic, quality support. In my free time, I love reading novels, going hiking, skiing, and spending time outside with my friends! After finishing up at Duke, I hope to go onto Medical School, and study to become a Pediatrician.
