HackDuke 2018

Hours: 50

Description: HackDuke is Duke’s premier hackathon, in which teams of students “code for good” to create helpful apps. I worked in a team of students from Duke, UNC, and NC State to work on developing a website based on educating kids on eating nutritiously: “Stutrition”.

Relation to GC Focus: Working on this HackDuke project gave me practical experience working with web development programming languages such as HTML and JavaScript and how they are integrated to use databases – skills crucial to being able to probe for specific cybersecurity flaws.

HackDuke 2019

Hours: 50

I participated in the HackDuke hackathon again in the year of 2019! This time, our group worked on a project for matching high school students with industry mentors.

Relation to GC Focus: Working on this HackDuke project gave me practical experience working with web development programming languages such as HTML and JavaScript and how they are integrated to use databases – skills crucial to being able to probe for specific cybersecurity flaws. It also introduced me to professional developer tools like Visual Studio Code.
