Gary Gereffi: Shaping Sustainable Supply Chains

New Podcast “Shaping sustainable supply chains”

Duke professor Gary Gereffi spoke at the podcast: “Shaping Sustainable Supply Chains,” hosted by the German Development Institute.

The new podcast investigates multiple societal dilemmas arising in global supply chains and offers insights into evidence-based solutions to shift towards more sustainable and fair global supply chains.

Gary Gereffi is an Emeritus Professor at Duke University and the founding Director of the Duke Global Value Chains Center. He is a regular contributor of DUCIGS’ Rethinking Diplomacy Program, for which he hosted the series: Covid-19 and Global Supply Chains.

The podcast is a production of the Sustainable Global Supply Chains Research Network, a project aiming at contributing to the sustainability of global supply chains through research. It initiates new research, pools the expertise of leading scientists around the world and makes new findings accessible for political decision-makers and other stakeholders.

“Gary Gereffi is the ‘godfather’ of global value chains,” said the podcast moderator and journalist Nicolas Martin, “one of the best researchers in this field. A dialogue with him is always inspiring.”

The research network is hosted by four research organizations: the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), The German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
