Early 2023: Faculty scoping discussions and Executive Director search
Summer 2023: Welcome Executive Director William Ferris, Research Scientist Chris Krapu, and PhD student Hector Monterroso to RESILE
Fall 2023:
- Co-hosting of inaugural Duke Climate Leader in Residence, Francis Bouchard
- Initiation of NSF/NOAA IUCRC planning proposal, including recruitment of academic and industry partners
Winter 2023:
- Submission and subsequent awarding of IUCRC planning proposal
- Planning of Duke Climate Collaboration Symposium, “Risk Science for Climate Resilience”

Spring and Summer 2024:
- RESILE personnel partner with collaborators at Duke and University of Georgia to plan IUCRC industry engagement meeting for the newly-named Center for Innovation in Risk Analysis for Climate Adaptation and Decision-making, i.e. CIRCAD.
- RESILE proposes two undergraduate research and training opportunities under Duke’s MUSER system.
- RESILE personnel provide training opportunities to Duke undergraduate students through DataPlus focused on climate resilience.
Fall 2024:
- CIRCAD attracts over 100 registrants to its 2024 Climate Risk and Resilience Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.
- RESILE hires its inaugural Graduate Assistant, Sarthak Mehrotra.
- RESILE accepts 6 undergraduate students and one recent graduate to collaborate on its MUSER projects, which include coordination of a campus conference on lived experiences with climate change, as well as launch of RESILE’s closely-related podcast.
- RESILE launches a Bass Connections training experience to undergraduate students focused on climate resilience.
