In our first rehearsal, we spent a full three hours blocking the opening number of the show. Last night, in just under 2.5 hours, we completed the show in full, and it was beautiful. On those pages when I only have one light or sound cue to call, I get to look up and really appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making this show happen. The set is beautiful, the cast looks amazing in costume, and with the addition of the pit the sound produced is wonderful.
Watching the cast grow together has been one of the joys of stage managing the show. From the first day of class when we were all just learning each other’s names, to today, when everyone likes each other so much it’s hard to keep the whole group quiet when we’re together. I can’t wait to play The Game tomorrow, have an amazing opening performance, and then celebrate with everyone!
