Workshop History

Part of the Department of Sociology at Duke University, Race Workshop celebrated its twelfth year anniversary in the Spring of 2020. In 2008, Dr. Eduardo Bonilla-Silva and his students created this workshop as an intellectual space for those interested in the study of race and ethnicity. Since then, this group has grown to include students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty in other disciplines. In addition to inviting local scholars to present work in progress in an informal setting, the workshop also brings speakers from other universities. Such an interactive forum has provided a unique opportunity to bring intellectual exchange of important ideas related to race and ethnicity across disciplines.
