Laura Pietrosimone PT, DPT, Ph.D is an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Division within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University. She graduated from Duke with a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2006 and completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Duke in 2010. She then completed the Proaxis Therapy (now ATI Physical Therapy) Sports Residency program in 2011 in Greenville, SC, leading to her credentialing as a board-certified sports clinical specialist. After four years of full-time clinical practice, she completed her Ph.D. in Human Movement Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018. Laura’s research focuses on lower extremity biomechanics and physical activity in orthopedic and sports medicine populations. Specifically, her work seeks to advance translational science through the development of innovative rehabilitation strategies that address the lasting consequences of orthopedic injury to promote physical and psychological resilience and optimize patient quality of life. She is a research faculty with Duke’s Sports Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship programs.
