Chris Antonelli, PT, DPT, ATC/L is a senior physical therapist and certified athletic trainer with Duke Health. He is a board-certified sports clinical specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Elon University and received his athletic training degree from Purdue University, where he was also a member of the baseball team. His area of practice is sports medicine, with special interests in overhead athletes, ACL rehabilitation and return-to-sport testing. He is a mentor with the Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship. He is also an assistant adjunct professor for the Elon University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, a teaching assistant in various courses in the Duke University Doctor of Physical Therapy program and provides seasonal medical coverage for USA Baseball. Annually, he gives multiple presentations to primary care sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, physical therapists, athletic trainers, athletes and coaches on the kinetic chain of the throwing athlete, pediatric sports injuries and shoulder instability. He also hosts an annual Duke Sports Science Institute Baseball Symposium, has co-authored a chapter on functional Achilles tendon rehabilitation and has co-authored an upper extremity return to sport testing systematic review.
