FAQs & Contact Us

Below are questions we often hear from faculty & staff.

If you don’t see your questions represented here or easily answered on another page, please contact us at pratt-gsps@duke.edu with subject line “Question about C&C Faculty & Staff Support

We’d love to support your student. Encourage them to connect with a communication consultant through a 1:1 appointment. Share this link with them to get started making a appointment for “speaking practice.”

Here are several supports we encourage you to suggest.

1:1 appointment: Ask the student if they’ve made a 1:1 “search strategy” appointment to have a discussion with a career coach. It’s important to ask about a “search strategy” conversation as some students think a conversation about resume feedback qualifies.

Engage with tech resources: Ask your student where they are getting stuck. Are they getting interviews but not moving forward? Are they unsure how to engage AI in their search process? We have tech tools to help with many of “sticking points” and students can use them at their own pace to work on areas of concern. The full list of tech resources is found on this page

Utilize career starter guides: Student can use these guides as a “quick start” for different aspects of the search process.

A student can make an appointment with a career coach or communications consultant by visiting Handshake. Share this link with them to get started and it will take them directly to the “make a new appointment” page. The student will see multiple options and can choose the one that best fits their needs.

For career support conversations, students are also welcome to utilize career drop-in hours while classes are in session. More information about those can be found here
