A compilation of some of the resources you never knew you needed –– and some you hear often but haven’t quite figured out. 


Health & Wellness

  • Duke Health and Wellness If you’re trying to manage the myriad holistic health services offered by Duke, build a support system, and learn to manage your wellbeing proactively, a good place to start is Duke Health and Wellness.
    • CAPS – Counseling and Psychological Services
      • CAPS provides individual counseling and psych services, group counseling, workshops and discussions, and referrals to external Durham providers. You can begin anytime, no appointment needed. CAPS is located on the third floor of the Wellness Center.
    • DuWell
      • Frequent programming intended to promote wellness, manage stress, reduce anxiety, and reduce risk. PSLs love Moments of Mindfulness. Follow them on Instagram!
    • Duke Reach
      •  Coordination, advocacy, referrals, and follow-up services for students who are experiencing significant difficulties related to mental health, physical health, psycho-social adjustment, post-hospitalization support, and coordination of care. Submit a DukeReach Report here, or visit their website.
  • Fitness and Wellness Programs at Wilson
    • Sweat it out! Free and fee-based opportunities for the Duke community to explore different areas of fitness and wellness including free group fitness classes, personal training and small group programs.

  • Academic Guides 
  • Duke Career Center
    •  Schedule an appointment with an advisor, make an account on Handshake, and peruse the Career Center’s trove of advice on writing cover letters and resumes, interviewing, and more!
  • The Writing Studio 
    • The Writing Studio has an excellent team of writing consultants that can give you feedback and revisions on your written work.
  • DAE – Directors of Academic Engagement 
    • DAEs can meet with you to discuss your academic plan, how to get involved in research, and countless other opportunities to grow. They specialize in one of three areas: arts and humanities, natural and quantitative science, and social sciences.
  • What is Research?
    • Watch these videos by the DAE and faculty members to learn about how to get involved in research.
  • LD/ADHD support 
    • The Academic Resource Center provides LD/ADHD-specific learning consultations and support which you can find on their website!
  • Duke Groups 
    • This is a great place to start if you’re interested in learning more about groups and organizations on campus or simply looking for events that allow you to engage with new faces and missions in the Duke community. From exploring culture and identity events, to crafting, conferences, and comedy shows, you are likely to find something that sparks interest here!
