Mark E. Easley, MD, President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, brings innovation and success to 2016 Annual Meeting

mark-e.easley-md_0In July 2015, Mark E. Easley, MD, was named president of the 2,100-member American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). In addition to leading the Society as president, Dr. Easley also serves on the board of directors of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation (The Foundation).

Since taking on his role as president, Dr. Easley has focused on AOFAS strategic development and optimizing education for orthopaedic surgeons and patients as it relates to disorders of the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle.

At the most recent AOFAS Annual Meeting, which took place in July in Toronto, Ontario, Dr. Easley brought new and innovative meeting topics to the conference that truly left an impression on attendees. One of the talks he coordinated featured six orthopaedic surgeons who, after countless hours in the OR, clinic, and doing research, discussed the reasons why they still get excited to come to work every day. Dr. Easley also brought six of the past AOFAS presidents for a Past Presidents Panel, which included Robert S. Adelaar, MD; John McDermott, MD; James Nunley, MD, MS; E. Greer Richardson, MD; G. James Sammarco, MD; and Roger A. Mann, MD, to discuss what they had accomplished during their tenure.

It goes without saying that Dr. Easley has done a remarkable job as the AOFAS president and we look forward to the lasting impression he will make on the field of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
