Highlights from 2016 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM)

Below are highlights from this year’s Combined Sections Meeting:

  • 225 attendees at the Duke Physical Therapy Alumni & Friends Reception, including at least 1 member from each of the last 16 graduating classes
  • 94 Duke presentations, including presentations authored by Duke clinicians, faculty, students, alumni, and graduates of Duke residency and fellowship programs: further break-down- 71 student authors, 39 alumni presentations, 17 faculty presenters, 16 student group presentations
  • 28 alumni recognized as new board-certified clinical specialists across 6 specialty areas
  • 2 current students received scholarships to attend the conference
  • 1 student received an Outstanding Student Award
  • Duke PT&OT clinicians Chris Holladay ’08 and Amy Pannullo were sworn in as Director of Communications and Secretary of the Section on Women’s Health respectively
  • Duke Physical Therapy Alumni Association Board member Timothy Faw ’09 was recognized for his Promotion of Doctoral Studies I Scholarship: Patricia Leahy Award funded by the Neurology Section
  • Alumni Rosie Canizares ’07 and Jessica Fulton ’14 begin serving their terms as Vice-President and Nominating -Committee member of the Performing Arts Special Interest Group of the Orthopaedic Section
  • Second-year student Maggie Selzer received a 2016 CSM Student Scholarship from the Federal Section
  • Third-year student Susan Kokot received a 2016 CSM Student Scholarship from the Performing Arts Special Interest Group of the Orthopaedic Section
  • Third-year Kaitlyn Schlueter received the Outstanding Student Award from the Sports Section
  • Alum Matt Ithurburn ’12 received the Excellence in Research Award from the Sports Section
  • Duke Physical Therapy Alumni Association Emerging Leader Award recipient Annalisa Na ’09 received the Adopt-A-Doc Award from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy
  • Duke Physical Therapy Alumni Association presented the Distinguished Alumni Award to Anne Weekley Thompson ‘79
