2027 Benefits Open Enrollment
Changes for 2027
Health care has long been one of the most valued benefits at Duke, and our goal is to continue providing high-quality coverage that is meaningful and accessible for our employees and their families. This commitment requires us to make some important changes in 2027.
Healthcare costs continue to rise significantly, and like many employers, Duke is experiencing the same pressures. As a result, health care premiums will increase in 2027 for all employees — more than they have in recent years. In an effort to help ensure this important benefit remains accessible to all employees, Duke is introducing a new premium structure in 2027 based on salary.
Under the current model, employees in lower salary bands pay a higher share of their income for the same coverage as their colleagues who earn more. The new model rebalances the cost share and shields those in lower bands from disproportionate cost increases.
Open Enrollment Period: October 12 – October 30, 2026
All Duke employees who are eligible for benefits will have the opportunity to enroll or make changes in their medical, dental, vision and reimbursement account benefits during the annual open enrollment period (October 12 – October 30, 2026). Changes made during the annual open enrollment period take effect January 1 of the upcoming year.
