Damon Circosta serves as the Executive Director of the AJ Fletcher Foundation, a philanthropic organization in Raleigh, NC dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of North Carolinians.  Reporting to an active and involved board of directors, Damon is responsible for overseeing the organization’s grant portfolio, convening stakeholder groups, and directing strategy. Additionally, Damon is an Adjunct professor at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. From 2019 to 2023 he served as the Chair of the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Previously, Damon led the North Carolina Center for Voter Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the electoral process. There, he spearheaded efforts on campaign finance reform, voter access, and improved voter registration.  Damon has also waited tables in Maui, worked at a surf shop in San Diego, and was the back-up mascot for a semi-professional hockey team in Pensacola, Florida.

Circosta was born in Flagstaff, Arizona and has an undergraduate degree in political science from Northern Arizona University. He attended the University of Arizona School of Law, where he studied state and local taxation, governance, and election law. More importantly he met his future wife, Amy Circosta, in his civil procedure class.Having planted firm roots in the Triangle, Circosta is involved in many other local groups and activities.  He serves on the board of Leadership Triangle, climbs rocks at the Triangle Rock Club, and plays frisbee golf at various triangle disc golf courses with his dog, Pickles. He has two kids and is a big fan of being barefoot. Damon vehemently opposes daylight saving time
