Fall 2020 Graduates!

Congratulations, Pratt Master’s Graduates!

As your academic program draws to a close, you should be very proud of your accomplishments. May your graduation be the beginning of many wonderful achievements in your life!

As you prepare to join our alumni community, there are some important reminders we wanted to be sure to share with you. Please review the important alumni information below:

December 2020 graduates who are enrolled in the Student Medical Insurance Plan (SMIP) have the option of ending their coverage with a December 31, 2020 termination date. Please submit your termination request to insurance@studentaffairs.duke.edu during spring Open Enrollment (November 15, 2020 -January 31, 2021). If your termination request is not received prior to the end of open enrollment, your policy will stay active until July 31, 2021. There are no exceptions.

Your Duke email account will be accessible for approximately one year after graduation. There is no warning that access is cut off, so you are strongly encouraged to start using a different account and to move important messages. For more information on how to create a Duke Alumni email address, please visit Duke OIT.

During the week of January 24, diplomas will be mailed to the address you selected as “degree address” in DukeHub (diplomas typically begin arriving in 3-5 days for domestic mailing and 3-5 weeks for international mailing). On January 8, a digital diploma will be sent to your Duke email address. The email will come from Parchment rather than Duke so please check your spam folder if you do not see it arrive.

All Duke students have unlimited number of transcript requests available to them. To request a copy of your transcript or degree verification, please visit the University Registrar website.

All alumni are automatically members of the Duke Alumni Association. The directory includes contact information for over 170,000 Duke alumni around the world. Setting up an account only takes a few minutes. To learn more, visit the Duke alumni web site.

The Duke Alumni Card helps you engage, connect, and celebrate with Duke and other alumni. Perks include special on-campus parking, free admission at the Nasher Museum of Art, and year-round discount and exclusive benefits at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club and the JB Duke Hotel. You can also use the card to enter various alumni events on campus and where you live. To learn more, visit the Alumni Benefits page.

Pratt master’s alumni can continue to schedule career coaching appointments for four years after graduation. Login to Duke CareerConnections and schedule using the advising tab. All Duke alumni retain access to the Duke CareerConnections website for a lifetime, including a jobs board for alumni and your library of uploaded documents. Like other alumni resources, the Duke OneLink login will replace NetID.

The Forever Learning program and other Duke Alumni Association initiatives offer professional development and networking opportunities throughout your life.

Watch your inbox for a Pratt survey about your plans after graduation and join this important tradition that benefits the next cohorts of students! Over the next six months we will attempt to collect reports on the first destination after graduation from every single December alumnus.

Why is this so important? You may have used this interactive data visualization, recall the employment trend information shared at orientation, or used the statistics for incoming students on the admissions webpages. Perhaps you wish you had better salary information for an offer you received or could see where students enroll for a Ph.D. All of that information becomes available because graduates have completed their first destination survey, so please share!

We wish you all the best for continued success, health, and happiness! Please keep in touch and be sure to reach out if there is continued support we can provide.
