Duke Alumni Trip to Baja California

In March 2104, I had the wonderful opportunity to be the Duke expert on a Duke Alumni Trip to the Baja Peninsula. Ten Duke alumni joined me on this trip of a lifetime. We began our journey on the National Geographic Sea Bird  in San Carlos, Baja California Sur. Our first stop was Magdalena Bay, where California gray whale spend time during the winter and early spring months. We were fortunate enough to have some very close encounters with the whales! In addition to exploring beautiful beaches and historic towns along the Baja Peninsula, we saw humpback whales and common dolphins in the Gulf of California. At the end of our trip, we had the incredible opportunity to snorkel with sea lions at Los Islotes. You can read the blog that I wrote during the trip and see some incredible pictures here.
