My name is Maria M. Laurito and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Economics track at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.

My research interests include Development Economics, Infrastructure, Natural Disasters, Migration, Health and Well-Being, and Program Evaluation. In my current work, I combine my background in engineering, economics, and public policy to study the effects of reconstruction of the built-environment after natural disasters on the recovery and resilience of communities and individuals.

Prior to Duke, I worked in development finance, banking, and the energy sector in Latin America and the United States. I hold a degree in Engineering, and graduated from the MPP program at Duke (2012).

I will be available for interviews at the 2018 ASSA/AEA Annual Meeting.
