Michelle was instrumental in bringing back the pet therapy program, Pets at Duke, to the pediatric inpatient units. The program has been on an indefinite hold since the pandemic, for several reasons, one of them being lack of staffing. Michelle worked with Volunteer Services, Infection Control, Risk Management and obtained all the approvals necessary to re-start this program that bring so much joy to patients and their families. Without her it would not have happened.
