José Arias arrived in the United States in 1985. He took a risk of opening Torero’s Mexican Restaurant when there were few Latinos in Durham and has worked hard to make it a success. He has seen a great increase of Latinos living in Durham and knows that the economy has benefitted from a hardworking Latino/a workforce. José believes that being bilingual creates more opportunities. He also says that education is very important.

José Arias llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1985. Tomó un riesgo cuando abrió el restaurante mexicano Torero’s cuando no había muchos latinos en Durham y ha trabajado mucho para que sea un éxito. Ha visto un aumento grande en latinos viviendo en Durham y sabe que la economía se ha beneficiado de la fuerza laboral latina bien trabajadora. José cree que ser bilingüe crea más oportunidades. También dice que la educación es muy importante.
