“When you get to the top of the mountain / Pull the next one up.”

These opening lines, from a poem by Marc Kelly Smith, serve as a gentle reminder to look out for those around me.  Whether it’s observing and giving feedback to a new teacher, helping an undergraduate student revise her job application materials, or assisting a post-bacc research assistant with an abstract, I have found mentorship to be an effective tool to promote the advancement of women and under-represented minorities in science.  You can learn more about my mentorship experience and mentees from the pull-down menu.
