Khalid M. Hameed, PhD. Earned the college degree at the Baghdad University, Iraq in 1962, The higher study was performed at the Virginia Tech (VT), Blacksburg, VA leading to MSc (1969) and PhD (1972). Served at the higher education in Iraq (1973-1990) and promoted to Associate and Full Professor. Served at the higher education institutes in Algeria (1990-1994), Yemen (1994-1995) and Jordan (1995-2009). Taught general biology at the Northern Virginia Community College (2009), and Durham Community College (2010). Joined the Mycology Lab at The Duke University as a Research Associate in 2010. The general scientific interest is in Mycology, and Plant Pathology, and specifically in plant fungal interaction. Carried out studies on plant parasitic seed plants; Broomrape (Orobanche spp.) and Dodder ( Cuscuta spp.). Served as volunteer with the Farmer to Farmer (F2F) of the USAID in several countries in Asia, Africa and Central America. Earned the President's recognition of International volunteer work, 2016. Currently, participating in on going research about the interaction among the higher plant, its endophytes and the mycorrhiza association.
