We aim to promote the recovery from heart failure through discovery and innovation.
Image of a cycling cardiomyocyte and a cycling endothelial cell in a failing human heart.
We study how the heart grows during maturation and after injury. Our long-term goal is to “re-wire” the failing heart towards growth that will recover function and regenerate lost cardiac tissue.
P21 mouse hearts after cryoinjury at P1 and treatment with either AAV-GFP or AAV-Vegfa. Blue dye shows the coronary vasculature and the circle shows the site of cryoinjury. From DeBenedittis et al, 2022.
