ISS 396: Graphic Design in Multimedia

Graphic Design in Multimedia taught me a lot of things about Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. It also allowed me to look at famous graphics designers throughout history and learn their style of design.

One of the first assignments was to learn to appreciate the use of white space within design. We were given a name, quote, date, and title and had to make a few designs playing with the hierarchy of information. Two of these designs are seen below:

For another project, we had to create a page around a simple object. I chose water and why consumers pay premiums for branded water bottles when it is the same product.

Design Format

Developing a design takes practice and this course showed students how something can start like Version 1 and turn into the final version.

Final Version

For the final class project, we had to take an idea and bring it to life through multiple graphic design mediums. My idea was “Ride the Rush,” a cross country bus trip that takes you to all of the best amusement parks in America. For this idea, we were required to develop a few standard items such as a logo, color scheme, in addition to some creative extras.
