Deadline: Rolling Application on first come, first serve basis

Latin Americanist/Caribbeanist faculty from any department or school presenting papers at conferences or professional meetings in the US or abroad may apply to receive Mellon Conference Travel Grants.

Requests should be submitted at least 30 days before travel date.

With funding received from Mellon endowment income, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies offers travel awards of up to $500 for Duke faculty members who will present papers on Latin American/Caribbean topics at conferences or professional meetings. There is no set deadline for travel grant applications for professional meetings. Decisions will be made as applications are received. We have limited funds available for this purpose, and therefore we encourage you to plan ahead.

Applications should include

  • A one page proposal stating funding needs, including cost of airfare and registration, and reference to any other funding sources available
  • A copy of a letter approving panel participation at the professional meeting
  • A copy of your abstract

Please submit your written request to Natalie Hartman at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, room 140 John Hope Franklin Center, Box 90254 or via email at njh@duke.edu.
