Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies Offers Graduate Student Travel Grants

Deadline: All available graduate student conference funding for 2016-17 has been awarded.  No more funds are available for this year.  Please check back in August 2017 for funding for next year.

With funding received from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies is able to offer the Mellon Conference Travel Grants, which are travel awards for Duke graduate students who will present papers on Latin American and/or Caribbean topics at conferences or professional meetings. There is no set deadline – applications will be considered as they are received until the funds run out for the year. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as they receive confirmation of their acceptance to the conference, and at least 30 days before the date of the conference. Duke graduate students at any level are eligible to apply.

Applications should include

  • A copy of the letter approving your panel participation at the professional meeting
  • A copy of your abstract, including the title of the presentation. Please also indicate whether you have received any other Duke funding to attend this conference.
