On Tues Feb 13th at 5:30pmĀ Duke IHI held one of our annual OpSwaps! Classmates from graduate schools across campus came together to learn about how health policy changes and how moves towards value based care will impact clinicians and others in the healthcare field.
The event provided information about value-based healthcare and how it applies to quality improvement. We had graduate students from 6 different schools across campus hear from three experts in the field: Dr. Rob Saunders, Dr. Joel Boggan and Dr. George Cheely. Students then participated in a group activity that discussed how to reform a clinical workflow based on changing from fee for service to bundled payments. People were very engaged, and had lots of questions about value-based payments and what they mean for the future of medicine.
Many thanks to our speakers and to the student attendees – stay tuned for more upcoming OpSwaps this spring!
