My name is Max Sondland and I am a student at Duke University in the class of 2020. I am studying mechanical engineering and pursuing a certificate in innovation and entrepreneurship.

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. From Pre-Kindergarden though 9th grade, I attended Oregon Episcopal School. From 10th grade until graduation, I attended The Thacher School, a small boarding school located in Ojai, California.

I have always been passionate about engineering and starting my own business. Coming to Duke, I knew I wanted to study Engineering but wanted to find a program that would allow me to compliment my Engineering classes with hands on business and entrepreneurship classes. Thus far, the classes I have taken under the I&E department have deepened my passion for business and taught me how to better prepare myself for starting my own venture one day.

I am excited to continue studying innovation and entrepreneurship at Duke. To learn more about the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate program at Duke, visit the program website https://www.entrepreneurship.duke.edu/certificate
