Engineering World Health
Duration: Summer 2022
Hours: 30
For my global work, I participated in the Virtual Engineering, Innovation, and Cultural Exchange program. This program was offered by the Engineering World Health as supported by the Steven’s Institute and was a design program aimed at connecting youths in Lebanon, Jordan, and the USA to develop low-resource design and engineering for healthcare in an international setting. I was in a team with two Lebanese peers and one American peer. We met on zoom twice a week 6 hours/week alongside our Lebanese mentor. In addition to learning about the basics of low-resource design, we also talked about cultural differences between Lebanon and America. Overall, this experience was eye-opening because I was working with brilliant people who were stuck in political situations that they had no control over.
