I&E 590: New Ventures Clinic: Healthcare
In a mixed team of business, Ph.D., and undergraduate students, we were assigned technologies designed by Duke inventors. Throughout the course of the semester, we built a plan and pitch surrounding the assigned technology and presented it every week to professors, lawyers, and venture capitalists experienced in the field. We examined market need, competitive landscape, and pricing strategy amongst other ways of positioning the product. Through this class, I learned a lot about how to work together with people from other disciplines and how to begin the technology translation process. This class has really inspired me to learn more about tech translation and following the completion of this course, I have taken other classes including I&E 390 and MENG 570 to learn more about the medical translation process and business and entrepreneurship.
