We accept applications from 9th – 11th grade high school students from across the Triangle and central NC area who are motivated and interested in medicine, allied health careers or science. This year we WILL NOT be accepting applications from City of Medicine Academy 9th Graders. We will also NOT be accepting applications from any 12th grade students due to a program shift.
HPREP is designed for members of underrepresented minority or ethnic groups, although others are welcome to apply. According to the American Medical Association, the term “Underrepresented minority” is defined as “those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population”. This includes traditionally defined underrepresented minority groups, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans (American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians), and mainland Puerto Ricans, in addition to other minority groups.
