HERUG 2016 was held at the Durham Convention Center (301 West Morgan St.) located adjacent to the Durham Marriott City Center in downtown Durham. Downtown Durham (located about 2 miles from the Duke campus) has experienced a renaissance during the last 10 years with the restoration of many historic building and an influx of restaurants, galleries, bars and entertainment venues. Accommodations

There were two hotels in downtown Durham offering preferential rates for HERUG 2016.

Durham Marriott City Center – directly adjacent to the Durham Convention Center.

21C Hotel – boutique hotel located in the Historic Hill building and a 1-minute walk to the Convention Center.

In addition to these two conference hotels, the following hotels are also located within walking distance of the Durham Convention Center:

Travel

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is located 15 miles (24 kilometers) from the Durham Convention Center. There is a daily direct flight from London Heathrow to RDU. Otherwise, international attendees will need to take connecting flights to RDU through other major U.S. cities like New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C. or Philadelphia.

Taxi fares from RDU to downtown Durham hotels are approximately $30 USD one way. All conference activities took place within walking distance in downtown Durham or bus transportation will be provided. There is no need for conference participants to rent a car unless you want to have one for personal use or for pre/post conference travel.

Durham is served by Amtrak passenger trains. The Durham Amtrak station is a 7-minute walk from the Convention Center. For schedule and reservations see Amtrak.com.
