Fixing the Kenmore Washer Machine

The Kenmore Washer at my rental home fails at spinning step. It seems that either the belt or transmission part. From the google search, there have been failures posted for this common problem. My friend was lucky and all he needed to do is to replace those plastic parts on the top of the spinning shaft. But, it can be as complicated as to fix the clutch complex, etc.

Mine has the follow information:

  • Model number: 110.27872600
  • Series number: CU3140210
  • To diagnose, turn to spin and push the button, one can hear the motor running but no spinning occurs. Here are some very good help videos from those DIY funs.

    A simple fix of coupler

complex. Faulty motor coupler, or even the clutch complex.
Here it comes very handy video tutorial.

Haha, so many videos, and I want to give credit to those I checked.
Video from Sears gives the step-by-step to replace the motor coupler.

The part is here, and it can be called “motor coupler” or “motor coupling”. It turns out that there are many options to purchase this part.

But, it could be the transmission clutch

    Working with my 2010 Odyssey

I have bought a 2010 Honda Odyssey, it is in great shape and but it has 180k miles on it after driving 10 years. My goal is to test out the “vanper” concept, and my first step is to make sure it is in good shape. There have been some forum talking about potential problems about Odyssey in general. It is not super scary, but it is worthwhile to keep an eye on them

About the sliding door, I follow this easy tutorial and try to lubricate it every year.
Try to change AFT every 30k minimum. This is better and more thoughtful. It turns out experts suggest add/drain 3x in a row! Will try to do this in the near future. Firstly, I want to find a good deal on a bottle of 12.
Change the engine oil following this easy youbue video
      Check the brake condition.
Change the timing belt, water pump, hydrolic tensioner, drive belt, etc.

When does one need to check the power steering fluid?

Recently, I feel a little "squeeze noise" when I turn the steering. I thought that it could be the weather as we are entering deeper into the last fall and it gets pretty dried up. Well, I happen to find out that the power steering reservoir is below the "low" mark. I top it up will Honda specific power steering fluid, and it does the trick.

The take home message is that the level of the fluid matters! And, it will cause squeeze if you don't fill it up to the correct level! Lesson learned.

Install backup camera for my daughter’s car

I have bought two cameras, and I need to make sure they work
I need to purchase a monitor first.
This dual dash monitor has a better review, but I don't need this.
Here is a good video on how to mount a backup camera.
Here is another one which is very good also.
A guy is working on his Honda Accord and he makes a good video.
Working on the license tag hole.
Could not get a video on Acura, found one for Lexus instead. Basically, need to drill a hole.
To direct the wire to the front, I need to remove the rear seat. And, this video is on 2008 TL, and this is much better.

    Install a car dash camera

Need to purchase the equipment first.

Miata NC model (third generation of Mazda Mx-5)

    Found a good forum site.
    Fuse panel shown here

Fixing the front bumper and grill, found a couple of very helpful youtube videos. The key is to remove the front wheels!

    Changing the grill.
You can find one on eBay for a litter more than 100 bucks.
A British guy also show video.
    This is better.

    Deal the problem with no-start

This is a good link with fair amount of details
My son finds this one, which is also good!
Here is a post on testing the coil, another one here, and, we've got a smart guy who uses the paper click to test the voltage.
Check misfire here, and it shall be dealt with before the problem gets worse.
    Check Miata coils.
After all these research, it turns out that the simplest fix is just to replace the battery. We learned to have differentiate the sounds of "no start" vs. "with crank but no start".

    Plaque Psoriasis

Fundamental fact about this disease: Plague Psoriasis

A common knowledge-base portal via Wikipedia provides just enough knowledge.
I like webmd better as it looks closer to scientific oriented write up.
The Mayo Clinic would provide much thorough and unbiased explanation for the disease.

    From Mayo Clinic, Psoriasis triggers

    Fixing my old linksys E4200

Narration: while I bought a top the line router 7-8 years ago, my linksys stops working when I tried to connect to a different port! The symptom is more like this. It broadcasts intranet signal but can not connect to a live ethernet port.

I remember that it happened once and I was able to fix it. Since I did not take a good note, now I have totally forgot and I am back to square zero. Hopefully, I can fix it this time and in the meantime have a thorough documentation. It shall be useful for others, I hope.
