Get Involved

As a Duke graduate and professional student, you are automatically a member of GPSC. The best way to get involved is to participate in GPSC/GPSC-sponsored events, including biweekly GPSC General Assembly meetings, GPSC student life events, GPSC community outreach events, and other events from GPSC affiliated groups. Also, there are several approaches to get involved with GPSC daily business:

1. be a General Assembly (GA) representative

Each department/academic program selects their GPSC GA representatives. Please contact your program student group for more details. To learn more about GA and current representatives, please visit here.

2. run for GPSC Executive Board officers

Each academic year, GPSC GA elects GPSC Executive Board officers in late Spring semester. To learn the Board duties, please visit here. For the information on elections, please visit here.

3. join GPSC operational/internal committees

GPSC Executive Board runs several operation/internal committees. Please visit here for more information.

You can join most committees by contacting the committee chairs, except Judicial Committee and Young Trustee Screening Committee. GPSC GA elects the members for these two committees in early Fall semester every year. For the information on elections, please visit here.

4. be a university committee representative/liaison

Please visit here for more information. The applications for university committee representatives start from September every year.

5. run for GPSC Board of Trustees committees representatives

Please visit here for more information. GPSC GA elects BOT committees representatives in late Spring semester every year. For the information on elections please visit here.

6. run for GPSC Young Trustee

Please visit here for more information. Each academic year, GPSC Young Trustee Screening Commitee selects three YT finalists from November to January. GPSC GA elects the YT on February. For the information on elections, please visit here.

7. join/start GPSC affiliated student groups

There are close to 100 student groups affiliated to GPSC. They receive fundings from GPSC and organize various events. They have different interests and focuses. Please visit here for a full list of affiliated groups and their contacts.
