I am thrilled to be joining Duke’s GLS community! I grew up in northern Virginia, about an hour from Washington DC. I attended the University of Virginia for my undergraduate degree, double majoring in English and Media Studies. Since graduating, I’ve worked as a reporter at news stations in Harrisonburg, Tallahassee, and now Raleigh. Outside of work, when I’m not teaching at my yoga studio or absorbed in a good book, you can often find me hiking at Eno River State Park with my husband and our dog. I also love live sporting events, and I try to attend as many Durham Bulls and Carolina Hurricanes games as I can! I’m looking forward to engaging in more long-form writing in this program, especially on History and English subjects.

What movie or television show that you watched recently would you recommend to the rest of us? Dept. Q – quite a thriller on Netflix!
Coming to the Duke GLS program, I hope to embark on a learning journey, meet other graduate students, and engage with new experiences.
We’re going to make a GLS 2024 playlist on Spotify. Please recommend a song to include that speaks to how YOU feel as you embark on this new learning journey. It could be something that you’re listening to a lot now or a longtime favorite that captures the moment for you.
