My name is Jonas Holt, and I grew up in Burbank, California. I recently graduated from the University of La Verne with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. While there, I competed on the men’s basketball team and worked as a writer and editor for the Campus Times newspaper. Balancing athletics and journalism shaped my communication and leadership skills, while also fueling my passion for sports and storytelling. After graduation, I worked as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Los Angeles Valley College, where I had the opportunity to mentor student-athletes and grow as a leader. Beyond academics and coaching, I enjoy running, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Community has always been important to me, and I try to bring that same sense of support and encouragement into my work with athletes. Looking ahead, my dream is to become a college basketball coach. The game has shaped who I am, teaching me lessons in resilience, teamwork, and leadership that I want to pass on to future players. I see the GLS program as a way to deepen my understanding of culture, education, and communication, preparing me to be not only a coach but also a mentor who helps young athletes succeed on and off the court.
