I was born and raised in Hunan, a mid-south province in China. I studied film in college (Go Boston!) and have worked on film/TV projects of different sizes and genres. My all-time passion has been documentary – I love watching it and also making it myself. For my thesis project at GLS, I’ve decided to study elder care in China from an anthropological perspective. Besides school, I play tennis and love cooking! It’s so hard to live outside my homeland without making food I grew up eating!

What movie or television show that you watched recently would you recommend to the rest of us? Aftersun (Directed by Charlotte Wells)
Coming to the Duke GLS program, I hope to gain as much agency as I can and explore my passion both in academics and life as creatively as I can!
We’re going to make a GLS 2024 playlist on Spotify. Please recommend a song to include that speaks to how YOU feel as you embark on this new learning journey. It could be something that you’re listening to a lot now or a longtime favorite that captures the moment for you.
