Code of Conduct

Everyone participating in the Duke Generative AI Hackathon event is required to agree to this Code of Conduct, including all participants, volunteers, staff, partners and speakers.

Duke University and the Duke Generative AI Hackathon believe that every person has the right to participate within a safe, respectful, inclusive and welcoming environment.  We do not tolerate harassment of participants, volunteers, partners or staff in any form.  Anyone who violates this Code of Conduct may be expelled from the event space at the sole discretion of the event organizers.

Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, social class or economic status.  Additional forms of harassment include deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, disruption of talks or other events, or inappropriate physical contact.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all hackathon venues as well as in any online interactions related to the event, including before, during and after the event.

If you are being harassed or notice that someone else is being harassed, please contact the event organizers immediately at or report it to the volunteers’ table at the event.  All reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.  Event organizers can help participants contact campus security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
