I chose to be a Grand Challenge Scholar to tie together the wide array of academic and extracurricular activities I participate in at Duke. By organizing these efforts around a driving Grand Challenge focus, I’m able to contextualize all of these different efforts within a broader purpose of improving the human condition through engineering and research. I see solar power as an essential component in the drive towards sustainability that will define the landscape of engineering in coming years.
