The FOB Program runs on a calendar year cycle. A high-level outline of program activities for September 2023 – October 2024 is as follows:

| July 2023 - September 2023 | Nonprofits apply to participate in FOB. |
| September 2023 - October 2023 | Student application and interview process. |
| By November 2, 2023 | Matching decisions announced. Nonprofits will be required to provide orientation materials and schedule an introductory meeting with students sometime before November 15. FOB funding is likely to be provided to support these meetings. |
| November 8, 2023 | Program Launch for student participants. Nonprofits may have access to live streaming if interested in viewing presentation of materials. |
| November 9, 2023 5:00pm - 6:00pm | Nonprofit Orientation event [Virtual]. Required for new nonprofit partners and/or new staff liaisons or board mentors at returning nonprofit partners. |
| November 2023 - May 2024 | Students connect with board mentor and nonprofit organization to confirm assignments and expectations and begin attending board and/or committee meetings. Project Description will be to FOB program in mid-January. |
| May 2024 - August 2024 | During students' summer internships; students stay engaged as able. |
| September 2024 - October 2024 | Students continue attending board and committee meetings, FOB training and coaching sessions. |
Note: No official FOB activities are scheduled during the students’ Winter (mid-December to mid-January) and Summer breaks (May – August). During the summer break, students are engaged in summer internships, but are encouraged to stay engaged remotely as able or relevant. The program ends in late October.
