The General Management Club hosts numerous events throughout the academic year to prepare students for careers in general management. Events range from educational series, such as the General Management Symposium and Sector Smarts, to resume and cover letter reviews and mock interviews. Events are made possible from the GMC’s generous sponsors.
Following are some of the main events hosted by the GMC:
Industry Intensives
Each session will focus on a different group of industries and how general management applies in each sector. Students learn industry specifics about types of positions are available, companies that recruit at Fuqua, industry trends, suggestions on how to get an internship, and have an opportunity to ask questions to SYs with experience in that industry.
Interview Preparation
During these sessions, second-year students volunteer their time to answer any questions that first-year students have as they prepare for internship interviews with general management firms. Second-year students also volunteer to conduct mock interviews with first-year students.
Facility Tours
Every year, the General Management Club (in collaboration with other clubs) provides all Fuqua students in the core Operations Management class with the unique opportunity to see classroom concepts applied in facility production lines. Facility Tours are comprised of several different local tours in a variety of industries. In the past we have visited: Walmart and the CLT airport with American Airlines.
