Durham/Remote – Decane – Software Engineer

Decane Studios is looking for a software engineer(s) to join our team. Our main objective is to create a single sign-on (SSO) token to access all of your accounts using biometrics as the authentication mechanism. Ideally our perfect candidate(s) should have experience with blockchain development and coding languages such as Solidity, JavaScript, and React. Experience with distributed computing and storage protocols such as IPFS and security protocols for encryption and authentication, creation of tokens or NFT. We are open to other technologies, but experience with Rust programming language, substrate, zero knowledge proof, and experience with biometric technology is a plus.

We are looking for developers who are curious about creating meaningful use cases using blockchain technology.

Decane is conducting interviews for the following positions:

Our demo will be finished on December 15th, 2022. Fuqua MBA Candidates and students enrolled in the I&E Graduate Certificate will enroll in and receive class credit for “New Business Ventures” taught by Jamie Jones. Undergraduate I&E certificate participants will earn 150-300 hours with a startup for their requirements. This role qualifies for any I&E undergrad certificate student needing a 150-hour and a 300-hour experience at a startup to earn their certificate. Students not in these programs as well as external non-students can receive flexible compensation packages.

Forepay is a mobile platform that allows you to manage, calculate, and split expenses between friends. Whether you’re on a trip with friends or going out for dinner in a group, Forepay automatically calculates who owes what to who, shows how you got that total, and allows you to pay each other all within the app. With this background, our focus is deliver the best user experience through intuitive design.

Forepay has been is accepted into the CMU Olympus incubator and we’re in the process of building an MVP, and we’re looking to bring on a third member with expertise in mobile app dev (Flutter, XCode, or related).

Responsibilities
– Help build out the MVP and be part of the platform launch by December.
– Handle front end UI development
– Collaborate with back end developers
– Communicate and work closely with founders, Sam & Andreas

Accounting and Financial Specialist Role:
Dime is currently hiring a graduate Accounting and Financial Specialist who will be working with us for the Fall 2022 Semester, and who can join us for future semesters conditional on superior performance.

Responsibilities:
– Analyze Dime’s financial information and keep accurate records of all of the company’s outgoing and incoming payments
– Ensure the company’s financial statements are up-to-date and accurate
– Handle any bookkeeping in an organized and structured manner
– Communicate with clients to ensure payments are received on time
– Present a financial report to the Dime executive board at the end of the semester

Skills:

Durham/Remote – I&E – Research Assistant

Seeking a student research assistant to explore the connection between entrepreneurial mindset and careers. Questions to be answered include: Is the “entrepreneurial mindset” a sought after competency by firms hiring early-career talent? If so, which firms? I&E is seeking a student to support a faculty-led research project to analyze “entrepreneurial mindset” in job postings. The RA must be proficient in either Python or R and have some basic familiarity with natural language processing. Depending on the results of the research, a peer-reviewed publication could be the final output. Innovative encryption startup, OptimalCipher (www.optimalcipher.com), is seeking a Head of Development/Chief IT Architect (HOD) to help develop company products and drive technical architecture. Setting company direction with the CEO and COO–work would include: 1) Creating requirements for an encryption “middleware” solution that can service multiple industries.2) Driving design and development of the middleware solution, as per the requirements in #1. Note that doing some amount of programming in C#, C++, Javascript, or other key languages will be required.3) Researching and deciding on product implementation options—such as use of a proxy; end-point agent vs. virtual appliance form factors; developing software using reusable components; scalable integration patterns with current popular IT platforms (via APIs, SDKs); and security ramifications of different architecture choices.4) Growing the development team; including helping to manage one current contractor.

The overall product domain involves security, analytics, and applications (cloud, desktop, and mobile). The firm’s internal pace moves quickly. The company’s current leadership includes: • CEO/CTO: an MIT PhD and former IT Security executive at leading financial services companies (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stantrepetin/); COO: an accomplished corporate IT executive, Board Chair, and successful entrepreneur (https://www.linkedin.com/in/wendy-chin-ctg/); and an interim Sales & Marketing Head.• Four senior corporate IT executives (former CIOs and VPs), as well as a mathematician, PhD, with over 20 published computer science and mathematics articles–as advisors. The firm has one customer; has obtained multiple patents; and has developed multiple potential MVPs for popular cloud platforms, as well as a demo mobile app. The startup is in the greater NYC area; and while it would be nice–it’s not required for the HOD to also be there. The HOD can be part-time if desired (at the very least, until sustained growth has been achieved). Software development experience is a must. previous startup experience and IT security expertise would be great.
