Durham – sp0t – Software Engineering Intern

Who we are

sp0t is the open world social app. Users build out their world by “spotting” — sharing photos and videos of cool places to a map shared with friends.   We’re a team of two that set out to build sp0t because we were sick of the social media landscape and wanted a cooler way to share what we found interesting about the world. We’re one developer and one designer, and we graduated from UNC in 2019.   The role

We’re looking for a software engineering intern to build out sp0t’s iOS app. You will be working directly with an experienced product team to bring a consumer product to market. sp0t is an early-stage startup, so expect an environment that requires fast learning and a high degree of autonomy. If there’s a need, this role may expand to adjacent areas such as quality assurance/software testing or analyzing user engagement and retention data.   This position will be paid hourly. A strong performance could lead to a salaried full-time role with equity.   What you’ll do

– Build out sp0t’s core features for a beta launch this summer– Iterate on customer feedback for a widespread launch on NC campuses this fall– Develop a test plan to ensure successful deployment of updates   About you

Allergood, a Duke Fuqua startup founded by MBA student Michelle Addison, is opening up its first intern positions to qualified undergraduates interested in helping fuel the company’s much-anticipated launch this July! Be part of the start-up excitement and gain valuable experience, including the opportunity for movement into paid roles or even full-time jobs post-graduation. As an Allergood intern, you will work with the Allergood startup team, including established marketing experts who will provide strategic leadership and mentorship opportunities.   Allergood will be the online source for anyone with food allergies. We will begin with Allergood’s online grocery platform, designed to make grocery shopping safe, fast and easy for food allergy consumers. Phase 1 begins with Allergood’s online grocery platform, where users can filter by allergen(s) and get instant access to cross-contamination information. We are looking for a summer intern skilled at graphic design. This is great experience for anyone looking to be at a high growth, early stage startup.   Dates: April 15th – August 15th (possibility to continue into the school year if interested, at re-negotiated rates).   Hours: 15-20 hours per week (two students can share this responsibility if time is limited)   Job Duties: Our platform will require icons to represent allergens and shopping categories and we are looking to create unique images that encompass the Allergood brand. Graphic design will be essential for our social media campaigns (instagram, facebook, etc.) and our email newsletters and blogs.   We are seeking a student with graphic design skills who enjoys being creative and is looking to help a startup build its brand image. Student must be passionate, motivated, and able to work hard to meet tight deadlines. Gain Professional Knowledge & Experience with Premiere Creative

Our internship program’s main objective is to ensure you’re ready to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. When you leave our office at the end of your internship, you will have far more experience than in one- or two-year’s worth of college courses.   During the session, interns will receive weekly lessons, introducing them to broad topics in digital marketing.
