WiFi-K9’s is creating the world’s largest network of free public hotspots, by unifying the fragmented community of independent access points found at coffeeshops, bars, bookstores, etc. We bring advance encryption, ease-of-use and the unmatched reach of a self-organized network. Our goal is to help public hotspots realize their full potential as both a marketing tool for the business providing the hotspot, and as a valued resource that benefits the community.

Our MVP is nearing completion and consists of the following:

  1. An online platform for businesses to create their own WiFi-K9 Hotspot.
  2. An Android and iOS app that configures a Hotspot User’s device for free and secure internet access.

Internship Opportunities

WiFi-K9 is a startup, working on our MVP. Together, through trial and error, working with our NY-based founder (a Duke Alumnus) and our Russian-based CTO, we will prove (or disprove) our idea in a Lean Startup environment.

Specifically, WiFi-K9 is looking for small teams of 2 to 4 students, who can help do one or more of the following:

  • Create and execute a plan for using one or more social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to find businesses willing to be initial Hotspot Providers.
  • Create a marketing website using WordPress to market our MVP. No functionality is required, just company and product details to support our social media campaign.
  • Refine the marketing messages through A/B testing.
  • Create in-store promotional material (signage, flyers, postcards, etc.) to explain to Hotspot Users how and why to use a WiFi-K9 Hotspot.
  • Get feedback from both Hotspot Providers and Hotspot Users on the MVP and suggest improvements.

You don’t have to be an expert. Honestly… we’re not. But if you bring an enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment, we’d like to talk to you.

Apply

To apply, email our founder at: eric@wifi-k9.com, by December 15, 2020 (ideally). Please include a brief description of what you (or your team) can offer.
